About That Radio Play

That Radio Play is a two-part production that celebrates the magic of storytelling, both on stage and on the air.

In Act One, the audience steps behind the curtain to see the people, moments, and quiet chaos that bring a live radio show to life. It’s a glimpse into the humour, nerves, and teamwork that happen just out of earshot when the microphones are off.

Then, in Act Two, the performance you’ve been waiting for begins, the live broadcast itself. With sound effects, dramatic voices, and that signature vintage flair, the story unfolds just as audiences would have experienced it in the 1950s.

It’s a heartfelt nod to an era when imagination led the way, and every voice and sound told a story worth tuning in for.

The Talent Behind The Mic

Meet the Cast

Miss. Debbie Taylor
marlea Ferguson

Debbie is our youngest member at the station and works part-time at the local chemist. She plans to study pharmacy at university next year but has already been part of the radio team since her school days.

Mr. Bob Davenport
Andrew Lukasiak

Everyone knows Bob; he once ran the family mechanic shop before driving the local bus. Retired five years ago, his wife encouraged him to “find something to do,” and he’s been a cheerful part of the station ever since.

Mr. Jeffrey Cartwright
Zoe Holland

A trusted town lawyer, Jeffrey has been with the station for years, saying it’s a great way to connect with the community. He enjoys knowing what’s happening and lending his voice beyond legal matters.

Mr. Jimmy Beans

Scott Hayman

Owner of Double Shot Café, Jimmy knows everyone’s coffee order by heart. He recently joined the station, calling it “another hobby with stations.” We’re still not sure what that means, but we’re glad he’s here.

Mrs. Doreen Brown
Susan Peggy Hunn

Doreen has been around the building longer than anyone can remember.
She keeps the station tidy, brews the best cups of tea, and always makes everyone feel welcome with her warm sense of humour.

Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas
Brianna Loader

Between raising three children and running her business “Everything a Woman Needs,” Elizabeth is one of the station’s cornerstones. She organises fundraisers and ensures the station thrives.

Sr. Mary (Ghost)

Abbey Rayner

Some say the station is haunted, and if so, Sister Mary is at the heart of the tale. Whether it’s myth or truth, her presence is felt in every story, a reminder of the mystery woven into radio itself.

Wolfman Bruce
Michel Haggerty

Bruce left school at 16 with dreams of radio and began sweeping floors just to learn the ropes. His dedication has paid off; today, he is our number one announcer and the voice listeners know best.

Miss Evelyn Hart
jodie Cameron

Serving as the poised Intermission Host, Miss Hart, introduces the evening’s sponsors and advertisements, carrying the charm and elegance of a 1950s broadcast presenter.

Dr. Edmond Smith
Nathaniel Dalgleish

A dentist by trade, Edmond joined the station recently, bringing much more than just bright smiles. His enthusiasm for radio is infectious, and he is a valued team member.
